Murray State women's soccer will wrap up their regular season schedule this weekend with a pair of decisive Ohio Valley Conference matches – beginning with a Friday road trip to Belmont, before returning home on Sunday to host Eastern Illinois. Sunday's match, which will also serve as senior day, will recognize the Murray State women's soccer senior student-athletes after the conclusion of the game. Both weekend contests will be available for fans to stream on ESPN+
What It Means:
The Racers currently sit in second place in the OVC table, trailing Southeast Missouri by just a single point with two games left to play. The top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament, while seeds three and four receive a first-round bye with the top two teams having an automatic semifinal berth in the OVC Tournament. Additionally, the regular season champion receives home field advantage as their school becomes the host site for both the semifinal and championship matches.
Last Time Out:
The Racers returned to the win column on Sunday, earning a 2-1 double overtime victory over Austin Peay in a First Financial Bank Battle of the Border rivalry matchup at Cutchin Field in Murray. The match saw goals from Arianna Mendez, who knotted the game at 1-1 in the 30th minute, and Abby Jones who was responsible for the game-winning strike in the 105th. Miyah Watford would record the assist on the overtime score, while Jamie Skarupsky collected five saves between the posts to preserve the win. The Racers outshot the Governors 29-9 on the day, while earning 11 corner kick opportunities in the attack.

The Racers enter the weekend at 9-7 overall, with a 6-2 record against conference opponents in 2019. Murray State continues to turn in dazzling offensive performances, as their 39 goals on the year is tied for 10th in the nation. Additionally, their 2.44 goals per game ranks 13th in the country, while the Racers have outscored OVC opponents 23-10 in 2019.
Individually, the Racers are led by senior Miyah Watford, who has turned in an OVC-leading 29 points on the year, which ties the Murray State single-season points record held by Julie Mooney (2014) and Harriet Withers (2015). Abby Jones has recorded an OVC-leading 10 assists, which ties the program's single-season record set by Jones herself just last season, while Rebecca Kubin has collected 16 points on seven goals and two assists in 2019.

Belmont enters Friday's match at 4-7-4 overall, with a 3-3-2 mark against conference opponents in 2019. The Bruins currently sit in sixth place in the OVC table after playing to a scoreless ties with Eastern Kentucky in their last time out. The Bruins are riding a five-game unbeaten streak, and have not lost since September 27th, when they dropped a 1-0 contest on the road to Morehead State. While Belmont has not scored a tremendous amount of goals (averaging just 1.13 per game), they have not conceded many either as the Bruin defense is surrendering just 1.46 goals per contest. They are led by 2018 All-OVC 1st team selection Julie Garst, who has collected 10 points on a team-high four goals and two assists on the season.
Scouting Eastern Illinois:
Eastern Illinois enters the weekend at 3-8-3 with a 2-4-2 record in the OVC. The Panthers are fighting for a spot in the conference tournament, and currently sit in the 8th and final playoff spot in the OVC table. Most recently, they are coming off a 1-1 draw with Tennessee Tech, and have only lost one of their last five outings. Averaging 1.07 goals per contest offensively, their defense is anchored by 2018 All-OVC 2nd Team goalkeeper Sara Teteak, who has carried a 1.55 goals against average through 14 games played.
All-Time Series:
Murray State looks to break a tie in the all-time series when they meet Belmont for the 11th time on Friday, as both teams have earned five victories out of 10 total encounters.
