A Joint Statement of Sportsmanship Ahead of the Battle of the Border

Both Austin Peay State University and Murray State University will be on the national stage Valentine's Day evening competing in what will be a great Ohio Valley Conference basketball match as the Governors welcome the Racers into the Dunn Center. Our outstanding institutions will enjoy major exposure and we'd like to take time out to remind our fans to represent both schools with respect and civility.
Let's make sure that before, during and after the game the focus is centered on what happens on the court, not off. Great sportsmanship should be displayed both in the game and in the stands. This will be a chance to show the high character of our respective fan bases.
In the true spirit of sportsmanship, we ask that fans from both institutions honor this rivalry game with civility and the utmost respect for each other.
While the game is going on, cheer loud and celebrate your particular team's success. Please remember to do so respectfully and conduct yourselves in a manner befitting both excellent institutions and teams.
