Holmslykke & Racers Finish On Upswing At Kiawah Island

The Murray State women's golf team finished on an upswing at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic.

Playing at Kiawah Island's Osprey Point and Oak Point courses over the last three days in Charleston, S.C., the Racers posted their best score of the event with a 306, which included a 72 from Linette Holmslyyke and a 75 from Sarah McDowell. The Racers posted scores of 308-320-206=934 and finished in 38th place in the field of 43 teams.

Holmslykke was MSU's top finisher in the field of more than 250 players with a spot in 45th place on scores of 75-76-72=223. Anna Moore placed 149th on scores of 75-83-77=235, while Jane Watts placed 166th after scores of 74-81-82=237. Sarah McDowell had scores of 84-80-75=239 and placed 179th. Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria had scores of 97-100-94=291 and was in 251st place. Raeshya Surendran played the event as an individual, and was in 85th place on scores of 76-74-77=227 and was third among the 10 solo players in the field.

Coastal Carolina and North Florida shared the championship each at a score of 865. Sydney Shrader of UNF was the medalist title with scores of 72-68-67=207.

The Racers get right back on the course Monday at the North Florida Intercollegiate (March 4-5) at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
