The Murray State women's basketball team shot 45.1-percent from the floor and 42.3-percent from 3-point range to top SIUE, 81-75, Saturday night at the CFSB Center in Murray. The win by the Racers was their second in as many games and moves them into a tie for seventh place with the Cougars in the league standings.
Murray State led for nearly 37 minutes in the game, but a three by Riana Everidge gave SIUE a late lead with 6:55 to play. The Racers, however, answered almost immediately with a layup from Cekeya Mack to take back the lead just 20 seconds later and never relinquish it. MSU was once again solid at the free throw line down the stretch going 6-for-8 in the final minute to seal the win and finish the night at 24-for-32.
Evelyn Adebayo picked up double-double number 15 in the game to lead Murray State with 27 points and 16 rebounds. Macey Turley followed Adebayo with 20 points, including a second straight 10-for-10 performance at the free throw line, in addition to seven assists. Lex Mayes added 15 point on the night by going a very impressive 5-for-7 from 3-point range.
Murray State returns to action Thursday when it travels to Eastern Kentucky for 5:30 ET tussle with the Colonels.
