Racers Add Ed Chapman to 2026-27 Staff

Murray State women's basketball announced the addition of Ed Chapman to the staff ahead of the 2026-27 season
Murray State women's basketball Head Coach Rechelle Turner has announced the hiring of Ed Chapman as special assistant to the Head Coach ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
With over 30 years of experience, Chapman brings a deep and diverse set of skills and a unique perspective to Coach Turner's staff after spending years in scouting, analytics, game management, and player development throughout his career in high school basketball. He joins the Racers with a particular focus on making the program's high octane system go even faster, a system he has helped Coach Turner develop. Chapman's wealth of experience in scouting and analytics will be central in his efforts to optimize the speed with which the Racers play on both ends of the floor.
Chapman's appointment to the MSU staff completes a full circle journey for the Murray State graduate (B.S. 1996, M.Ed 2006), as he began his coaching journey as a student manager for Scott Edgar during the 1992-1993 season. After his stint with Racer men's basketball, Chapman moved on to learn the ropes from another outstanding Racer head coach, Ron Greene, while Greene was serving as Calloway County High School's head boys basketball coach. The Chapman family has a deep appreciation for Murray State, as his wife, Chrystie, his sons, Carson and Jackson, and his daughter-in-law, Melanie, are all graduates of MSU.
Chapman is thrilled at the opportunity to work with one of the fastest rising women's basketball programs in the country. "I am humbled and honored to join this outstanding program. I look forward to serving the players and staff in any way possible as we pursue more championships here at Murray State University."
"I have known Coach Chapman for over thirty years, and I know that we are adding a tremendous human being and an outstanding basketball coach to our staff. Ed's familiarity with the system and his ability to use analytics to make our individuals and our collective better offers us a great resource for the upcoming season," said Coach Turner. "We will also lean on his extensive experience in scouting and game management to make our staff and program as effective as we can possibly be. We are very proud of the championship culture we have built and that we always seek to maintain in this program.
