Racers Greet Fans, Media Tuesday In Hartford
3/20/2019 12:57:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The Murray State Racers met the media at the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Tuesday at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The Racers' 17th appearance in the NCAA's tips a half hour after Florida State meets Vermont. Tip-off will be approximately 3:20 p.m. CT for MSU's battle with Marquette.
The day began with the Racers arriving at the XL Center and getting their first look at the arena and their locker room. Shortly after arrival, senior Shaq Buchanan and sophomore Ja Morant took questions from the media at the pre-tournament press conference, followed immediately by head coach McMahon. From there the Racers' locker room was open to the press with outlets from all over the nation showing up to interview players and coaches alike. The day ended with the team's open practice where they were greeted by several hundred fans there to watch the Racers.
The Racers are back in the Big Dance for consecutive years for the first time since they went to three-in-a-row in 1997, 1998 and 1999. The Racers are looking for their third win in the past four ties at the tournament after winning in 2010 and 2012, before losing last season in the opening round to West Virginia. Murray State has face Marquette just twice before with both meetings going down as NCAA tournament losses in 1969 and 2012.
The Murray State Racers (27-4) are making their 17th appearance in the NCAA Tournament after a fantastic regular season that saw them win their 26th OVC regular-season title with a 16-2 record in league play, followed by their 17th tournament championship to earn the league's automatic qualifier to the championship.
