The sixth-seeded Murray State women's basketball team saw its 2018-19 season come to a close Thursday with a 77-56 loss to three-seed UT Martin in the first-round of the 2019 OVC Women's Basketball Championship at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
The Racers could never really find a rhythm offensively, but only trailed by two at 18-16 at the end of the first. However, in the second quarter, the Racers were not only outscored, 19-7, but they were also outrebounded, 15-4, digging a hole that they were never able to recover from.
The Racers ended the game being outrebounded by 12 and also allowed UT Martin to shoot a season-best for an opponent, 58.3-percent from 3-point range. Brianna Crane led Murray State with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Evelyn Adebayo had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The 2018-19 Racers end their season at 13-17 overall and 9-9 in OVC play, a two-game improvement in each column over last season. Murray State also exceeded expectations in the conference standings, finishing sixth after being picked 12th in the league's preseason poll.
