Justin Wendling Ties Career Round - Racers Wrap Up FAU Event

Murray State's Justin Wendling tied his career-low collegiate round and the Racers carded their best score in the final round of the FAU Spring Championship in Boca Raton, Florida, at Osprey Point Golf Club.

Wendling, carded a 4-under-par 68 in the final round, as the junior tied his best score in 61 career rounds at Murray State. His final round allowed him to move up 23 spots to finish in 42nd place with scores of 77-75-68=220. Previously, Wendling carded a 68 twice last fall, in the Skyhawk Classic and at the Murray State Invitational.

The Racers recorded a team round of 4-under-par 284 in the final round as they had three under-par scores with Gabe Wheeler and Austin Knight each posting rounds of 1-under-par 71. Gabe Wheeler was MSU's top finisher with a spot in 29th place on scores of 74-71-71=216 and after Wendling in 42nd place, Austin Knight placed 48th on scores of 78-72-71=221. Connor Coombs placed 65th on rounds of 77-76-74=227 and James Boone placed 72nd after scores of 79-77-76=232.

Central Florida won the event with a total of 829, ahead of host Florida Atlantic (838), Southern Illinois (849), Houston Baptist (853) and Florida Gulf Coast (853). The Racers placed 13th on scores of 306-294-284=884.

Central Florida's Bobby Bai was the medalist winner after scores of 67-67-66=200 and had a four-shot win.

Osprey Point played to a length of 6,786 yards and to a par of 72.
