Racers Take On Hermitage At Big Blue Intercollegiate

The Murray State men's golf team plays its final event before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship when they compete in a field of 14 teams at the Big Blue Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee State (April 8-9) at Hermitage Golf Club in Nashville, Tenn.
The schedule of play calls for 36 holes on Monday and a final 18 Tuesday. An 8 a.m. shot gun start gets things going each day.
The Racers are joined in the event with TSU, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin from the OVC and other teams including
Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Chicago State, Detroit, Evansville, John A. Logan, Longwood, North Dakota, Walters State, Green Bay and Wright State. Roane State and Fisk have individuals in the event.
The Racers send out a starting lineup of Austin Knight, Gabe Wheeler, Justin Wendling, Avery Edwards and Connor Coombs. Dalton Bagwell and James Boone will play the event as individuals.
Play will be held at the President's Reserve course, which plays to a par of 71 and 7,020 yards.
A year ago, the Racers finished fourth and Knight won this event with scores of 71-72-69=212, while Coombs placed 17th on rounds of 72-75-72=220 and Wheeler placed 28th on scores of 75-70-78=223. Wendling was 37th after posting scores of 76-79-72=227. Two years ago, Edwards finished 11th here on rounds of 74-73-72=219.
On the horizon for the Racers is the OVC Championship (April 21-23) at The Shoals GC in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
