Weekend Rounds - Racers Tee It Up At Kentucky University Club

After a year away, the Murray State Racers' women's golf team takes on the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington Friday through Sunday (Sept. 27-29).

The Racers are part of a field of 13 teams including Akron, Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, Indianapolis, Marshall,
Middle Tennessee, (host) Kentucky, Memphis, Penn State, Rutgers, Tulane and Western Kentucky.

The starting lineup for Coach Velvet Milkman is the same five as their season opener in Mobile two weeks ago, however it's in a different order. Freshman Ana Garcia Picchi takes the No. 1 spot after she had a top-10 finish at the South Alabama event on scores of 73-71-71=215 as she led the Racers to a seventh place showing on scores of 294-297-291=882. The rest of the MSU lineup includes Raeshya Surendran, Payton Carter, Eliza Kho and Sarah McDowell.

MSU senior Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria is in the event as an individual. She will surely have good memories of her first time playing in the UK event in 2017. The senior led the Racers with a 25^th place finish on scores of 76-70-79=225. In 2017, the Racers posted a 10^th place finish. The Racers also played in the UK event from 2004-06.

The schedule of play calls for teams to tee off from the No. 1 and No. 10 hole in the first two rounds and a shotgun start for the final round Sunday. The Racers are part of a 13-team field that will play the Big Blue course. Murray State is paired with Tulane and Indianapolis in the first round. Kho will hit the first shot of the event for the Racers at 10 a.m. ET.

The Blue Course will play to a par of 72 and a length of 6,114 yards.
