Last Time Out:
Murray State dropped a hard-fought battle to Missouri in their last outing on Thursday evening. The Racers produced a comeback effort, tying the game at 1-1 after facing a 1-0 deficit at halftime, but the Tigers converted a penalty kick in the 80th minute to escape with a 2-1 victory over MSU. Symone Cooper would be responsible for the Racer goal, scoring for the first time this season when she finished a one-time strike off a ball from Abby Jones.
Entering Sunday:
The Racers look to end a two-game slide on Sunday when they welcome the Rebels to Cutchin Field. Murray State enters the match at 2-3 overall, after they earned victories against Samford and Indiana earlier in the season. The Racers, who have scored in every game this season, are averaging 1.8 goals per contest. Senior Miyah Watford leads Murray State with eight points coming from a team-high four goals, while junior Rebecca Kubin has recorded six points on two goals and two assists.
Scouting Ole Miss:
The Rebels enter Sunday's meeting with the Racers at 4-1 overall after a pair of double overtime victories against Western Kentucky and Minnesota in their most recent outings. Ole Miss has outscored their opponents 9-5 on the year, and are led by 2018 All-SEC 2nd team selection Channing Foster who has scored a team-high four goals in 2019. Foster, who hails from Murray, Kentucky and is a graduate of Graves County High School, was also named to the SEC Players to Watch list for 2019. The Rebels are coming off a 2018 season that saw them finish 13-8-1 and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
All-Time Series:
Sunday's competition at Cutchin Field will mark the third all-time meeting between the Racers and Rebels. The most recent came just last season in a game that saw Ole Miss earn a 3-0 victory at their home field in Oxford, Mississippi. The only other previous encounter came in 2015 when the two sides met in the first round of the NCAA Tournament that ended in a 1-0 result also in favor of the Rebels.
