Kiuru, Henry lead team to fourth win in as many tries
The 11th-ranked Murray State rifle team passed its first major road test with flying colors Sunday by upending eighth-ranked NC State, 4671-4647, at the University of Kentucky Rifle Range in Lexington.
The Racers began the day with a 2317-2299 win over the Wolfpack in smallbore, followed by a 2354-2348 victory in air rifle. Matias Kiuru led all scorers in the match with a 584 smallbore and a 592 air rifle for an 1176 aggregate. Freshman Allison Henry followed Kiuru with a huge day in which she set new career bests in all three categories including a 582 smallbore, a 590 air rifle and an 1172 aggregate.
The Racers return home next week to host Jacksonville State at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range Saturday.
