Racers Begin Spring Season In Arizona

The Murray State men's golf team gets the spring 2020 season underway Saturday when they compete in the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Desert Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.

Play calls for three-straight days of play (Feb. 22-24) of 18 holes on the Palm Desert course that will play to a par-72 and a length of 7,015 yards.

The Racers are joined in the event by Air Force, Bucknell, Connecticut, Drake, Delaware, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Hartford, Loyola Maryland, Loyola Marymount, Marshall, Missouri State, Northern Illinois, Seton Hall, South Dakota, SIU-Edwardsville, UT-Martin, Xavier and Arizona State.

MSU's top performers from the fall season include senior, Austin Knight, who is 11^th in the Ohio Valley Conference with a scoring average of 72.0. Junior Connor Coombs is 25^th at 72.9 and sophomore Dalton Bagwell is 26^th in the OVC at 73.1.

Highlights of the fall season for the Racers included winning their own Murray State Invitational (Sept. 10) at Miller Memorial GC and placing third at the Skyhawk Classic (Oct. 1) at Paris Landing GC in Buchanan, Tennessee. The Racers placed third at the APSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 15) at Clarksville CC and was seventh at the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational (Oct. 22) at Turtle Point CC in Florence, Alabama. The Racers are sixth in the OVC with a stroke average of 290.6.
