Two Matches in Indiana Serve as Final Preparation Before OVC Competition

Murray State women's tennis will travel to Indiana for a pair of weekend matches, facing Southern Indiana on Friday before meeting Ball State on Sunday. The Racers (7-4) will use the road trip as two final tune-ups before beginning Ohio Valley Conference competition on March 13th.

Last Time Out
The Racers dropped two tough matches in their trip to Birmingham, Alabama last weekend, falling to UAB 4-0 before coming up just short in a 4-3 match against Samford. Sara Loncarevic, Marit Kreugel, and Anja Loncarevic earned victories in singles during the match against Samford as Kreugel now holds a 10-1 singles record in 2020. Anja Loncarevic has also played some of her best tennis as of late, as the senior improved to 6-4 on the year.
All-Time Series:
The Racers are set for the third match in the all-time series against Southern Indiana, with the Racers owning a 2-0 mark against the Screaming Eagles entering the weekend. The sides have clashed each of the last two seasons, with the Racers cruising to 7-0 triumphs in both contests. As for Ball State, the Racers will meet the Cardinals for the sixth time in a series that dates back to 1977. Murray State holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series after they earned a 7-0 victory in their last meeting on Valentine's Day in 2009.

Southern Indiana is 1-2 entering the weekend after the Screaming Eagles defeated Marian University 5-2 for their first victory of 2020 in their most recent outing. Five players have a 1-2 singles record to open the year, led by Lauren Hambrock who owns this mark at the #1 position. USI is coming off a 2019 season that saw them go 5-15 with a 1-4 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference competing at the NCAA Division-II level.
