In the 2018-19 season, Barbara Schläpfer put together one the best seasons by a student-athlete in recent memory and not just in her sport, rifle, but in all sports. She led the nation in smallbore and aggregate scoring, was named the OVC Smallbore and Air Rifle Athlete of the Year, shot the only 599 in air rifle in school history, was a three-time first team All-American and was named the CRCA Rifle Athlete of the Year, the sports national player of the year award.
Since then, Schläpfer has returned home to her native Switzerland where she is working on a master's degree, while also chasing her dream of qualifying for the Olympics. GoRacers.com recently caught up with her in her home town of Gais for a Sunday Sit-down with Parker Griffith.
