Racers Picked To Finish Fourth, Fernandez Named Preseason All-OVC

Senior libero Becca Fernandez repeats as a Preseason All-OVC selection.
The Murray State volleyball team was picked to finish fourth in the 2020 Preseason OVC Poll as voted on by the league's coaches and Sports Information Directors, the league announced Wednesday.
The Racers, who garnered two first-place votes in the poll, received a total of 180 points. Southeast Missouri was tabbed as the preseason favorite as they received 222 points and 10 first-place votes while Jacksonville State (216 points) and Morehead State (214 Points) was picked second and third, respectively.
Senior Becca Fernandez was named to the Preseason All-OVC team for the second year in a row. Fernandez was a first-team All-OVC selection in 2019 and was the 2018 OVC Defensive Player of the Year. The three-time OVC Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 29, Oct. 13, and Oct. 20) lead the league with 5.1 digs per set and ranked first on the team with 522 digs and 33 service aces.
The Racers will begin the 2020-21 campaign on February 7-8 when they take on Tennessee State at Racer Arena.
