The Racers’ next action is Sunday at home against UT Martin

The Murray State rifle team took on Morehead State Friday at the Pat Spurgin Range in Murray, Kentucky and came away with a 4699-4660 victory.

The Racers bested the Eagles 2340-2307 in smallbore and also took the air rifle competition 2359-2353.

Matias Kiuru, John Blanton and Scott Patterson led the way for the Racers with aggregate scores of 1184 and 1174 (for Blanton and Patterson). Kirru posted a 591 (out of a possible 600) in smallbore, while Patterson scored 585. This Racer trio also posted scores of 593, 592 and 591 in air rifle. Allison Henry posted an aggregate of 1167, while Dana Buesseler had a 586 in air rifle.

"I though Matias had a really solid day and it's good to see the hard work he put in after his match last week pay dividends today," said MSU Coach Alan Lollar. "John, Scott and Allison all were good today as well. Dana has been working on some things and I'm proud of the work she is putting in. The team took a step forward today and I am proud of their effort."

The Racers host UT Martin Sunday at 9 a.m.
