Let The Games Begin! Racer Men Host Brescia In Monday Exhibition

Head coach Matt McMahon and the Murray State Racers host the Brescia Bearcats in a 7 p.m. exhibition game Monday at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. The game marks the start of the 97th season of collegiate basketball for Murray State University. The day is a doubleheader at The Bank with the MSU women's team hosting Trevecca Nazarene at 5 p.m. in an exhibition game.

The Racers were selected third in the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball poll after a vote by the league's head coaches and communication directors. The Racers were picked third with 136 points, as Belmont and Morehead State were first and second with 161 and 141 points. Southeast Missouri (101) and Tennessee State (84) were fourth and fifth with Austin Peay (76), SIUE (65), Tennessee Tech (62), Eastern Illinois (43) and UT Martin (34) rounding out the field of 10 teams.

Murray State's returning 1,000-point scorers, Tevin Brown and KJ Williams were each named to the All-OVC Preseason Team.

After Monday's exhibition, the Racers play their first two regular season games at home (Nov. 9) vs Cumberland (TN) and (Nov. 13) on Hall of Fame Day vs Bellarmine. MSU's first road trip is at Illinois State (Nov. 16). Thanksgiving week, the Racers play three games in three days (Nov. 22-25) at the Naples Invitational in Naples, Florida.

Monday's exhibition game will be a historic night when new Brescia coach Sarah Gayler becomes the first women to be head coach of a men's basketball team in the 71-year history of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Gayler joins Brescia after working for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA. She played at the University of New Orleans.

Mini-Ticket Plans Available
Fans can purchase season tickets and the Navy & Gold Mini ticket plans at Racer Mania. The mini plans are a great way for Racer Nation to enjoy Murray State games with general admission tickets. Each mini plan is $50 for one general admission ticket to five games. All of the games offered in the ticket plans are doubleheaders except for the stand-alone men's game vs Middle Tennessee (Dec. 4). Call the ticket office at (270) 809-3000 to purchase a ticket plan.

2021-22 Basketball Season Game Day Notes

Murray State University is planning to operate games at the CFSB Center at full capacity this season.
Currently, masks are required inside all buildings on the campus of Murray State University, including the CFSB Center.
Murray State University will continue to closely monitor the latest health and safety guidelines from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Calloway County Health Department.
Regardless of vaccination status, all guests, staff and vendors will be required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth while in the CFSB Center.
Fans will not be required to show proof of vaccination to enter.
Children two years old and younger will not be required to wear a mask.
The Racer Club meal ($12 per person) in the Murray Room opens 90 minutes prior to tip-off of all men's games for members that are at the Stallion ($700) Level and higher.
The Pockets halftime hospitality service opens to Racer Club members at the Thoroughbred Level ($1,500) and higher in the Upper-D concessions area of the arena beginning with five minutes remaining in the first half and closing with 15 minutes remaining in the second half.

Fans are asked to enter the CFSB Center through any one of three gates: Upper-A, Upper-B and Upper-C.
The Lower-A entrance (Ticket lobby) will be used for ticket purchases.
Will Call will be located inside the Upper-A lobby.
Gameday walk-up tickets can be purchased at Lower-A and Upper-B entrances.
Entry to the court level will not be permitted from Lower-A.
Floor access will be limited to credentialed personnel only.
