Watts Selected as OVC Newcomer of the Week For Eighth Time

Brooke Lynn Watts has been named OVC Newcomer of the Week eight of 12 weeks this season
Following a trio of double-digit kill matches, freshman outside hitter Brooke Lynn Watts was selected as the OVC Newcomer of the Week for the eighth time after hitting 3.93 kills per set on a .201 hitting clip.

Watts' eight newcomer honors are the most by any player since the introduction of the Newcomer award in 2015.

Watts led the Racers offensively putting up double-digit kills in each match, helping them close out the regular season on a four-game winning streak.

Against Austin Peay, Watts finished with 16 kills, seven digs and one block assist.
Â
On Friday at SIUE, Watts led the Racers with her fifth double-double, putting down 20 kills and added 13 digs in the Racers' first five-set win of the season.

The following day, Watts had 19 kills on a .269 attacking %, adding five digs and one solo block and one block assist.

Watts and the rest of the Racers will head to Cape Girardeau, Mo. as the #5 seed in the 2021 OVC Volleyball Tournament, facing the UT-Martin Skyhawks in the quarterfinals at the Houck Field House Thursday (Nov. 18) at 3 p.m. CT.
