The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team returns to the CFSB Center Saturday for its final non-conference home game of the season against Lipscomb at 5 p.m.
Series At A Glance
Saturday will be the 13th all-time meeting between Murray State and Lipscomb with the Racers leading the all-time series, 8-4, after winning each of the previous two contests. Murray State is also 5-1 against the Bisons at the CFSB Center and have won each of the last five games in the series played at The Bank.
Scouting The Bisons
Lipscomb enters Saturday with an overall record of 4-6 after a narrow 50-49 loss at Tennessee State Wednesday.
The Bisons are currently averaging 64.7 points on 40.6-percent shooting with 39.8 rebounds per game, while their opponents average 66.1 points on 36.5-percent shooting with 39.0 rebounds per game.
At 9.7 points per game, Blythe Pearson currently leads the Bisons in scoring, while Maddie Cook follows at 9.3. Dorie Harrison leads Lipscomb on the boards with 5.6 rebounds per game, while Casey Collier and Cook average 5.1 and Pearson pulls down 5.0 per game.
A Win Would...
A win Saturday would give MSU an 8-2 mark or better to start the season for just the fourth time in program history. A win Saturday would see the 2021-22 Racers join the 2007-08 and 1987-88 teams at 8-2, while the 1988-89 team started the season 9-1.
The Upper Hand With The Hot Hand
Murray State is 7-0 this season when it outshoots its opponents from the floor and 0-2 when it is outshot.
Doubly Perfect
Katelyn Young has scored 10-plus points in all nine games for MSU this season and 20-plus points in six of those.
Â
Large In The Margins Part Ii
The difference in the rebounding effort in MSU's wins and losses is quite large this season, as the current difference between the two is 23.8. The Racers are out-rebounded by 5.5 in losses, while they out-rebound foes by 18.3 boards in wins.
