Running Racers Push Past Mocs - Tevin Brown Career-High 33 Points

The Racers have won 22 consecutive non-conference home games at the CFSB Center
The Murray State Racers pushed past the Chattanooga Mocs with a 53-point second half and turned it into an 87-76 victory for their 22nd consecutive non-conference win at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers (10-1) have won seven in a row overall and at home this season as they travel to play the Auburn Tigers (Dec. 22).
Murray State's Tevin Brown scored a career-high 33 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double. The Racers also got 18 points from Justice Hill and 11 from Trae Hannibal.
In a battle of two top-50 NCAA Net Ranking teams (UTC was No. 8 and the Racers No. 10 in the College Insider Poll) the game was a close all the way. After the Mocs led 37-34 at halftime, the Racers tied it 57-57 with 9:48 remaining and took the lead for good 13 seconds later 60-58 on a 3-point basket by Brown. From there, the Racers put the game away with a 13-2 run for an 80-68 lead with 1:46 left.

Racers Selected For Two Home Games On ESPNU
The Murray State men's basketball is hosting a pair of televised home games on ESPNU as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference for the 2021-22 season. The Racers will appear on ESPNU (Feb. 17) when they host the Austin Peay Governors at the CFSB Center in a 6 p.m. tip. The second game happens at home (Feb. 24) against the Belmont Bruins in a tip off of 8 p.m. Both of the TV games for the Racers come on Thursday nights. The OVC schedule has a total of nine total men's basketball televised games (six regular season contests and three OVC Tournament games) to be aired by one of the ESPN networks during the 2021-22 season. This includes three nights of coverage at the OVC Tournament (March 4-5) at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

- Tevin Brown's career-high game eclipsed his 31-point performances at Evansville (12-21-19) and at UT Martin (1-10-19). His stat line was impressive on 11-of-22 from the field (7-of-14) from the 3-point line and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
- Brown's seven 3-pointers marks the 17th time he has made five or more in a game. The Racers have won 15 of them.
- Brown's career 3-point total is now up to 288. Isaiah Canaan (2009-13) has the Murray State record of 304 and Joe Sibbitt of Austin Peay (1994-98) has the Ohio Valley Conference record of 319.
- Tevin Brown and UTC's Malachi Smith had an amazing individual scoring battle. Brown scored 33 points and Smith 36.
- Malachi Smith's 36 points ties the CFSB Center for opponent individual scoring in the 24 seasons in the building. Eastern Kentucky's Nick Mayo scored 33 against the Racers in 2019.
- In case you're wondering, the Murray State scoring record at the CFSB Center was set in 2001 when Isaac Spencer scored 42 points against Tennessee State.
- The Racers lead the all-time series with UTC 7-2 and are 5-0 in Murray and have won the last three in the series including games in 2009 and 2010.
- Coach Matt McMahon's overall record is now 133-65 (.671) At home, McMahon's teams are 79-15 (.840).
- At the CFSB Center, the Racers are 6-0 this season and have won their last seven at the Bank.
- MSU has started the same lineup in all 11 games this season. Brown, Hill, KJ Williams, DJ Burns and Carter Collins.
- With the win, the Racers have pushed their non-conference home winning streak to 22 since their last loss (Dec. 19, 2017) vs Auburn. This is a mark MSU will carry into the 2022-23 season.
- The final non-conference game for the regular season is Wednesday (Dec. 22) at Auburn in a 5 p.m. tip at Auburn Arena.
- The 74th season of basketball in the Ohio Valley Conference for the Racers begins (Dec. 30) at home against Southeast Missouri.
