MSU falls to Gators; enters OVC schedule at 8-3
The Murray State women's basketball team ran up against a buzz saw in the form of the Florida Gators Tuesday at the Exactech Arena in Gainesville, falling to the Gators, 67-51. With the non-conference portion of its schedule over, the Racers will enter conference play at 8-3.
The Racers hung tough for the entire half, never trailing by more than seven and were down by just five at halftime. However, a big 21-14 third quarter proved to be all the difference the Gators would as they held on for the 16-point win.
Macey Turley led the Racers in the game with 14 points, while Alexis Burpo followed with 12 and Bria Sanders-Woods came off the bench to add 10. Hannah McKay pulled down 14 rebounds to lead Murray State on the glass in the game, while Burpo added seven and Katelyn Young added six, to go along with nine points.
Murray State returns to action at home Dec. 30 to open OVC play against Southeast Missouri at 5 p.m.
