Racers Suffer First OVC Loss to Morehead State

Murray State falls on the road to Eagles in straight sets
The Murray State volleyball team fell Saturday afternoon to the Morehead State Eagles in three sets at Johnson Arena.
For the Racers, it is their first loss in the OVC this season as they fall to 2-1 in conference play while Morehead State remains undefeated, 3-0, in the OVC.
The young guns, Darci Metzger and Jayla Holcome, led the way for the Racers with seven and six kills, respectively. Callie Anderton tallied 19 assists and Becca Fernandez had 19 digs. Taylor Beasley and Dahlia Miller each added one service ace for the Racers.
Morehead State used fast starts in each of the first and third sets as they took both sets, 12-25 and 12-25.
Murray State had their best chance in the second set as they started the game 4-1 and tied it at 8. The Eagles began to pull away going on a 10-4 run to lead 19-12. The Racers were able to close the gap to 18-21 before falling 19-25.
The Racers will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon, facing the Eagles once again at 1 p.m. at Johnson Arena.
