Ana Picchi Garcia Named OVC Golfer Of The Week

Spanish sophomore led the Racers with a top-10 showing at the Bama Beach Bash
Murray State sophomore Ana Garcia Picchi was named Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golfer of the Week as announced by the league office.

From Seville, Spain, Picchi finished tied for eighth in a field of 90 competitors at the Bama Beach Bash, held at the Gulf Shores Golf Club. She carded scores of 76-76-73=225 (+9) for her second Top-10 finish of her Racer career.

The honor for Picchi marks the second this spring for the Racers, after senior Raeysha Surendran was named to the award on March 4.

The Racers play next week at the inaugural Chattanooga Classic (March 29-30) at Black Creek Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

About Murray State Women's Golf
The Racers' program is in its 28th season overall, with the founder of the program, Coach Velvet Milkman guiding the way as the only coach the Racers have ever had. She started the Murray State program in the 1993-94 school year and has coached championship-level student-athletes that have produced 12 OVC championships, the most of any coach at Murray State. Also serving for many years as the Murray State Senior Woman Administrator, Milkman did MSU Athletics a great service by serving as Interim Athletics Director from July 2018 through February 2019. Milkman is involved at the NCAA level shaping women's golf on a national scale. She served a four-year term (2009-12) on the NCAA Women's Golf Committee including two years as chair.
