OVC Golf Championship - Racers Seek To Send Coach Hunt Out In Style

Eddie Hunt, MSU men's golf coach for 20 seasons is retiring at the end of the 2021 spring season.
The 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship begins Sunday morning as the event (April 25-27) is played at the Shoals Golf Club in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and it finds the Murray State Racers trying to send Coach Eddie Hunt out in a big way.

Coach Hunt, in his 20th season leading the Racer men's golf team announced his retirement at the end of the 2021 spring season.

Since the win in 2010, the Racers have produced finishes of second (2015), third (2011 & 2012), fifth (2013, 2016 & 2017), eighth (2014), 10th (2018) and third in 2019. The 2020 championship was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 54-hole test (April 25-27) is staged on the Fighting Joe course at The Shoals for the seventh consecutive time.

Avery Edwards, Sr., Paducah, Ky.
Edwards is appearing in the OVC Championship for the third time. In 2017 he placed 11th and made the OVC All-Tournament Team in 2019.

Austin Knight, Sr., Hopkinsville, Ky.
Knight is appearing in his fourth OVC Championship and has finishes of 13th (2018) and 14th (2019).

Connor Coombs, Sr., Central City, Ky.
Coombs is playing in his third OVC Championship with a 38th and 44th place finishes.

About the Shoals
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals is home to two 18-hole championship courses and lies between the Wheeler and Wilson dams on the Tennessee River. Wheeler Dam is named in honor of General Joseph "Fighting Joe" Wheeler - the only Confederate General to attain the same rank later in the United States Army.

The OVC Men's Championship has been held at The Shoals six times previously (2009, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). For the OVC Men's Championship, the Fighting Joe course will be par 72 with a yardage of 7,258.
