Racers Place Fifth At APSU Intercollegiate – Carter Shoots Team Low 71

The Racers next challenge is at the Chris Banister Classic (Oct. 10-12) in Gadsden, Ala.
The Murray State women's golf team finished with a share of fifth place in a field of 10 teams at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate at The Legacy Golf Club in Springfield, Tennessee.
The Racers moved up one shot in the final round and finished with team scores of 313-299-302=914 to share fifth place with Indiana State.
MSU's Payton Carter carded a 1-under par 71 in the final round and moved from 29th place to share the Racers' highest finish of 15th place teammate Ana Picchi. Carter's score line was 84-75-71=230, while Picchi carded scores of 74-76-79=230. Other MSU finishes included Emmie Eriksson in 19th place on rounds of 81-73-77=231, while Alma Garcia was one shot from Eriksson with a 24th place showing on scores of 79-75-78=232. Eliza Mae Kho placed 38th on scores of 78-84-76=238. Lauren Gilchrist played the event as an individual for the Racers and placed 40th and was third among the eight solo players on scores of 81-81-81=243.
Belmont won the team title at 886, ahead of Jacksonville State (889), Western Carolina (902) and Austin Peay (903).
Kendall Maynard of Belmont was the medalist on scores of 73-72-69=214.
Legacy GC is played to a par-72 and a length of 6,161 yards.
