Murray State women’s soccer preps for final game of the regular season
Murray State women's soccer heads to Des Moines, Iowa for a 1 p.m. Sunday matchup with Drake. The Racers look to nail down their seeding for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament as they can place anywhere from fifth to eighth.
The Racers continue to be led by likely all-conference performer Saraya Young with her 13 points this season (3 goals, 7 assists). Young's first season playing primarily as a forward has been one of the most impressive in the entire MVC this season as she leads the league in assists on the campaign.
The freshman duo of Sydney Etter and Mary Hardy look to round out their impressive debut campaigns with a strong finish as Etter has four goals and Hardy has three goals and two assists.
Lauren Payne rounds out the top performers so far this season for MSU with four goals to tie with Etter for the team lead. In her career, Payne has 12 goals and four assists.
Scouting Report
The Drake Bulldogs come into the bout at 4-7-6 overall and 3-2-4 in MVC games. Drake currently ranks fifth in the league standings and has scored 18 goals this season.
Emma Nagel has started all 17 games for the Bulldogs and has scored a team-high five goals while adding an assist.
Rachel Panther has looked the part of one of the better playmakers in the conference with five assists to rank second league wide.
Viany Lopez leads the MVC in saves with 74 saves in over 1400 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs. Lopez has started in 16 of 17 games for Drake and has posted a .776 career save percentage.
