Racers Prep for MVC Quarterfinals

After their first-round win over Drake, Murray State women's soccer gets their next challenge from Southern Illinois on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Carbondale, Illinois. The game will be a quarterfinal matchup in the Missouri Valley Conference championships.

Morgan Bodker's late game-winning goal led MSU past Drake in the first round as the Racers reversed their regular season result with the Bulldogs to win 1-0 on Thursday evening. The Racers will need to do the same with the Salukis on Sunday afternoon as SIU took the regular-season matchup 1-0 on October 13 with the goal coming in the form of a penalty kick.

Murray State will look to Saraya Young, Hailey Cole, Sydney Etter, and Lauren Payne to lead their attack as group has combined for 12 goals and 12 assists this season.

Morgan Bodker and Mary Hardy bring an attacking threat from the Racers back line as each of the defenders have three goals this season. Grace Bodker has started all 19 games for MSU this season and has become the primary set-piece taker while stacking up a goal and two assists.

Scouting Report

2022 is the greatest season in SIU's program history as the Salukis are the four-seed in the MVC tournament.

Senior Liz Brecthel leads the team in both goals and assists, with four goals and two assists on the year. Emma Spotak has three goals on the season and has one assist on the campaign.

Maddy Alaluf has appeared in 11 matches in-goal this season for the Salukis. Alauf has allowed 11 goals and made 51 saves in nearly 1000 minutes.
