Young, Turley combine for 42 Tuesday night

The Murray State women's basketball team cruised by Bethel (Tenn.) in its lone exhibition of the 2022-23 season, 71-36, Tuesday night at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

The Racers shot nearly 50-percent from the floor in the game at 49.2, while holding the Wildcats to just 28.0-percent shooting.
Murray State committed just two less turnovers than Bethel (19/17), however MSU was better able to take advantage of the miscues and outscored the Wildcats, 25-9, off turnovers.
Junior Katelyn Young and redshirt senior Macey Turley combined for 42 of Murray State's 71 points in the game with 27 and 15, respectively. Hannah McKay added eight for the Racers, while Bria Sanders-Woods and newcomer Fruzsina Horvath had seven each.
On the boards, Turley led a rebounding effort that saw the Racers outwork the Wildcats, 45-23, with a game-high seven rebounds. Young followed Turley with six of her own, while Alexis Burpo added five.

The Racers will officially launch their 2022-23 campaign, their first in the Missouri Valley, Thursday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at the CFSB Center against Christian Brothers in the annual Community Kids game.
