Murray State volleyball's inaugural MVC campaign ends in loss to Valpo

Murray State volleyball's inaugural Missouri Valley campaign comes to a close in the first round of the conference tournament in a 3-0 loss to Valparaiso on Sunday in Evansville, Ind.

The Racers made it to the tournament in their first season in the league, placing seventh in the regular season with a conference record of 8-10.

MSU was on the wrong end of three close sets as the Beacons took won the day 25-22, 25-19 and 26-24.

Freshman Ella Vogel led the Racers in kills with 13, followed by Darci Metzger, who made nine kills along with three blocks. Bailey DeMier kept up her consistent season performance, posting 33 assists to average 11 per set while also making seven digs.

Already the winningest coach in program history, David Schwepker begins his 25th season in 2023 just three wins short of his 400th career win.
