Racers Win 300th In CFSB Center – Defeat SIUE

In the 24 seasons of home games at “The Bank”, Murray State teams have won 86 percent of the time
The Murray State Racers recorded the 300th win at the CFSB Center in a 79-59 victory over the SIUE Cougars in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers (22-2), who have won games at an 86 percent clip over 24 seasons on their home court, improved to 12-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The first place Racers have won 12-straight games overall and their last 14 games at the CFSB Center.
MSU had four players scoring in double-figures with 18 points each by Tevin Brown and Justice Hill, while KJ Williams added 12 points and DJ Burns scored 11. Williams added 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season and the 25th of his career.
After jumping on top 12-4 on a reverse dunk and layup by Williams, the Racers pushed to a 12-point lead at 21-9 seven minutes into the game. The Cougars managed to cut the lead to four at the 8:09 mark, but the Racers finished the half on a 23-7 run for a 44-24 halftime lead.
The Racers shot 44 percent from the field (27-of-61), while limiting SIUE to 39 percent (19-of-49). The Racers scored 20 points off 13 turnovers by the Cougars. Two days after grabbing a season-high 15 steals at Austin Peay, the Racers added another nine against SIUE.
The Racers take to the road next week for games at Tennessee State (Feb. 10) and Morehead State (Feb. 12). The Racers come home (Feb. 17) for a home game against Austin Peay on ESPNU.
Game Notes
- Tevin Brown was honored with a trophy basketball before the game as he ascended recently to OVC record-holder for career made 3-point baskets. Brown received a standing ovation as he appeared at center court with Coach Matt McMahon
- Brown has made a 3-pointer in 20 straight games. The last time he failed to make at least one three was against ETSU (Nov. 22).
- Williams had his ninth double-double of the season and is ranked 25th nationally.
- Hill has played more than 134 minutes in the last four games with 28 assists and only four turnovers.
- The Racers have a string of eight games with double-digit offensive rebounds. They had 12 tonight with five coming from Nicholas McMullen.
- The Racers have won the last 15 games against the Cougars since SIUE's last win in 2014.
- MSU is 17-0 all-time against SIUE at home.
- Opened in the fall of 1998, the Racers are in their 24th season in what was originally named the Regional Special Events Center.
- The arena became known as the CFSB Center "The Bank" in 2010.
- MSU is 300-49 (.859) overall at the CFSB Center, 174-32 (.844) in OVC games and 126-17 (.881) in non-conference games.
- The Racers are 13-0 at the CFSB Center this season with games remaining against Austin Peay and Belmont.
- Twice in the 24-year history of the arena have the Racers gone undefeated home in a single season three times. The first was the inaugural season of 1998-99 when MSU was 12-0. The second instance was in the 2009-10 season when the Racers were 15-0. The other undefeated season happened in 2019-20 at 15-0.
- McMahon's mark at the CFSB Center in seven seasons is 86-15 (.851).
- McMahon's outstanding success for the Racers now has him at 145-66 (.687) in seven seasons and 87-31 (.737) in OVC games.
- In his last five seasons, McMahon's Racers are an incredible 112-35 (.761).

Racers Selected For Two Home Games On ESPNU
The Murray State men's basketball is hosting a pair of televised home games on ESPNU as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference for the 2021-22 season. The Racers will appear on ESPNU (Feb. 17) when they host the Austin Peay Governors at the CFSB Center in a 6 p.m. tip. The second game happens at home (Feb. 24) against the Belmont Bruins in a tip off of 8 p.m. Both of the TV games for the Racers come on Thursday nights. The OVC schedule has a total of nine total men's basketball televised games (six regular season contests and three OVC Tournament games) to be aired by one of the ESPN networks during the 2021-22 season. This includes three nights of coverage at the OVC Tournament (March 4-5) at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
