Racers To Meet Texas A&M In Myrtle Beach Invitational

The Racers are scheduled to play three games in four days (Nov. 17-20) at the Myrtle Beach Invitational
One of the big parts of the Murray State Men's Basketball 2022-23 schedule is their appearance at the fourth annual Myrtle Beach Invitational at the at HTC Center in Conway,
South Carolina.

The Racers have been paired with the Texas A&M Aggies in game one. Tip time is set for 4 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, Nov. 17. Murray State's second game (Nov. 18) is against either Colorado or UMass at noon ET or 2 p.m. ET.

The second part of the Myrtle Beach bracket has Boise State vs Charlotte and Loyola vs Tulsa (Nov. 17). After an off day, the tournament concludes with four games on Sunday (Nov. 20).

New Murray State head coach Steve Prohm is in his second era with the Racers and guiding them to the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Myrtle Beach Invitational is offering a pre-tournament discount of $25 discount for fans that sign up online. Fans that sign up early receive first access to purchase tickets at a discount later in the summer before they go on sale to the general public.

The Myrtle Beach Invitational is operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, that owns and operates a portfolio of 34 collegiate sporting events nationwide. The roster includes five early-season college football games, 17 college bowl games, 11 college basketball events and a college softball event, which accounts for approximately 400 hours of live programming, reaches nearly 64 million viewers and attracts over 800,000 attendees each year. 2022 Hall of Fame Dinner & Program
The annual Hall of Fame dinner is on the night of Nov. 11 at the CFSB Center. The 2022 class will also be recognized Nov. 12 at the Racer football game against Robert Morris (1 p.m. kick off) and a men's basketball game against a yet to be determined opponent. Hall of Fame dinner tickets may be purchased through the MSU ticket office online at GoRacers.com.

Racer Football Mini-Ticket Plan
Racer football three-game mini-plan packages are now available for purchase. The package includes a general admission ticket for the home opener vs. Jacksonville State (Sept. 10), vs. Eastern Illinois (Sept. 24) and vs. Robert Morris (Nov. 12). The home opener will be a night to remember as we "Light up the Stew" and giveaway 3,000 LED blue and gold glow boom sticks presented by CFSB. The Racers return home two weeks later for the always popular "Family Weekend", and finish out the season at home with Hall of Fame and Military Day. Each purchase of a 3-game mini-plan will also include one general admission ticket to a Racers home basketball game at CFSB Center during the 2022-23 season.

About Murray State Athletics
Located in Murray, Kentucky, the athletics department of Murray State University is a NCAA Division I member and plays in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Racers have 15 programs including men's teams for baseball, basketball, cross country, football and golf and women's teams for basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and volleyball, as well as a mixed gender rifle team. The Racers became members of the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2022. The Racers will become a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2023. The MSU rifle program competes in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Myrtle Beach Invitational Notes
- Murray State Coach Steve Prohm won a tournament title once before at HTC Center when he coached Iowa State to the 2017 Puerto Rico Tipoff crown. The event was moved to the Coastal Carolina campus due to Hurricane Maria.
- The last time the Racers won an in-season tournament was in Prohm's first season as MSU coach in 2011 at the Great Alaska Shootout. The Racers defeated Southern Miss. In double overtime in the championship game.
- In Myrtle Beach, the Racers could meet Colorado and if they do, it will get Coach Prohm and Buffs Coach Tad Boyle together again. The two coached against each other in the title game of the Charleston Classic in 2012, won by Colorado 81-74.
- The first three champions of the Myrtle Beach event include Central Florida (2018), Baylor (2019) and Utah State (2021).
