Malone Smith Rounds Out 2022-23 Racers Baseball Staff

Murray State baseball announces Malone Smith as Volunteer Assistant Coach
Murray State baseball announced on Monday afternoon the hiring Malone Smith as a volunteer assistant coach to round out the 2022-23 coaching staff. Smith will assist with the offense, coach outfielders, and run the on-campus recruiting for the program.
Prior to Murray State, Smith was an assistant coach at Walters State Community College for two years. At Walters State the Senators made two consecutive Junior College World Series appearances finishing with a record of 61-7, 7th in the nation (2020-21) and 60-7, 3rd in the nation (2021-22).
At Walters State, Smith worked with the Catchers where he helped three different catchers achieve Division 1 scholarships and one other to a Division 2 scholarship. One of which earned TSSAA All-Conference Honors in the 2022 season.
 The Nashville, Tennessee native played baseball at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
After his time in Kansas, he finished his degree at Florida State University with a bachelor's in Commercial Entrepreneurship.Â

Smith joins Head Coach Dan Skirka and assistant coaches Cooper Goen and Steve Adkins for the 2023 season.
