The Murray State men’s golf team plays at the SIUE Derek Donlenc Invitational at Gateway National GC
The Murray State men's golf team gets to compete at Gateway National Golf Club at the SIUE Derek Donlenc Invitational. The 54-hole event Monday and Tuesday is staged at the classic links layout at Gateway National in Madison, Illinois.
Last week Murray State's Jay Nimmo had a birdie putt on the final hole to force a playoff, but settled for a runner up finish at the Grover Page Classic at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tennessee. Nimmo had scores of 74-66-68=208. The Racers placed seventh on scores of 292-285-293=870.

A year ago, the Racers placed eighth in a field of 14 teams, while Connor Coombs finished fifth on scores of 71-69-72=212. The Racers brought home a fourth-place finish in 2014 when they posted a score line of 303-292-292=887. Jordan Smith topped the MSU team with a spot on the all-tournament team and a fourth-place finish with scores of 75-69-71=215.
Fellow Missouri Valley Conference members Bradley, Missouri State and Southern Illinois join the Racers at Gateway.
