Racers Fall Short on Five-set Thriller against Southern Illinois

Volleyball falls to Southern Illinois in Missouri Valley Conference debut
Murray State volleyball went all five sets before falling to Southern Illinois two to three, Friday.
This is the Racers season home opener along with their Missouri Valley Conference debut.
The Salukis came out strong by winning the first set 25 to 22 but the Racers were able to answer in the second, winning it 25 to 22.
The Racers dominated the third set, winning it 25 to 16 before dropping the fourth 17Â to 25. Final set closed as the Salukis won it 15 to 13.
Setter, Bailey DeMier, recorded her first triple-double of the season with 51 assists, 13 digs and 10 kills. While freshman, Federica Nuccio, recorded her ninth double-double but this time she emphasized on defense with 18 digs and 10 kills.
Freshman, outside hitter, Ella Vogel, led the Racers in kills with 16 followed by senior, Alysha Smith who made 12 kills of her own.
Dahlia Miller remains the backbone of defense as she made a total of 20 digs.
The Racers willl host Missouri State tomorrow.
