Mary Hardy scored her third goal of the season in a tightly played matchup with the Beacons.
The Murray State women's soccer team ended Sunday's match with Valparaiso in a 1-1 tie at Brown Field in Valparaiso, Indiana.
The Beacons took the early lead in the second minute on a goal by Addy Joiner. Just under five minutes later, Mary Hardy headed a flick pass from Sydney Etter in the box to even the match. That was Hardy's third goal this year and Etter's first assist.
The Racers had a chance to take the lead in the first half at the end of the 24th minute, but offside took away the shot. In the final 70 seconds of the match Murray State had another opportunity to score the go-ahead goal, yet it was called offside.
Including her goal, Hardy put three of her four shots in frame in 83 minutes on the pitch. Hailey Cole took three shots, Etter and Reyna Mijangos added two of their own and Hannah Carter, Morgan Parker and Megan Wilson each added an attempt.
Carter, Audrey Henry and Morgan Bodker saw the pitch for 90 minutes. Henry and Bodker both have yet to be subbed off this season.
Griselda Revolorio totaled three saves on 17 shots faced in 90 minutes in goal.
Murray State returns to the home pitch at Cutchin Field to take on Northern Iowa on Thursday, October 5 at 3 p.m.
