The Murray State men’s golf team hosted The Buddy, their annual home event that honors Coach Buddy Hewitt

The Murray State men's golf team saw Jay Nimmo come home with a sixth-place spot at The Buddy Championship, a 54-hole tournament at the home of Racer Golf, Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.

Nimmo carded scores of 69-74-67=210 as his 67 was tied for the low round of the day.

The Racers carded team scores of 289-282-289=860 for a spot in fourth place winner Southern Indiana (844).

With the launch of The Buddy, it marks the beginning of MSU men's golf to restart their home fall event for the first time since 2019. The event was the idea of Coach Jacob Miller as a way to honor the coach that started men's golf at Murray State in 1961, Buddy Hewitt.

With their fall season finished, the Racers will open the spring portion of the campaign (Feb. 10) with their annual Popeyes Battle of the Border Match Play against Austin Peay in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
