Young Included on 2024 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List

Murray State women's basketball's Katelyn Young has been named in the 2024 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List as announced by the Her Hoop Stats, today.

Young was named among 25 other players from 23 teams and 16 conferences. The Missouri Valley Conference placed three players with UNI's Maya McDermott and Drake's Katie Dinnebier alongside Young.

The Oakwood, Ill., native was named part of the Preseason All-MVC First Team, yesterday.

In her first season in the MVC, Young led the league in points per game by averaging 21.4 points. She averaged 7.8 rebounds per game while having a 52.6 field goal percentage through 2830 minutes played.

The Racers will kick start the 2023-24 season in an exhibition against Lindsey Wilson, Nov. 6.
