Racers Tip-Off Basketball Season with Thursday Exhibition

Lindsey Wilson will provide first test for the Racers.

The Murray State women's basketball team looks to get into gear ahead of their second season in the Missouri Valley Conference as they welcome Lindsey Wilson College for an exhibition at 6 p.m., Thursday.

Head Coach Rechelle Turner enters her seventh season after guiding the Racers through their inaugural MVC season, where they lost in the quarterfinals to regular season champions Illinois State by two points (73-75).

This year's edition of the Racers includes the return of the 2023 All-MVC First Team honoree, Katelyn Young.

Young led The Valley in points per game with 21.4 last season. She was named Preseason All-MVC First Team and was included in the Her Hoops Stats 2024 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List.

Among the eleven returners are two new faces. Freshmen Haven Ford and Destiny Thomas, along with transfers Trinity White and Ava Learn, look to bring a new look for the Racers.

Following the final tune-up against Lindsey Wilson, the Races will begin their second MVC campaign on the road against Power Five team Arkansas next Friday.
