Three Racers Named MVC Scholar-Athletes

DeMier, Miller and Vogel named MVC Scholar-Athletes.
Murray State volleyball's Bailey DeMier, Dahlia Miller and Ella Vogel were named Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes as announced by the conference today. DeMier and Miller are named first team, while Vogel is included in the second team.
DeMier is a junior finance major with a 4.0 GPA. On top of the excellence in the classroom, she started for all of the Racers' 27 matches while leading the MVC in assists with 10.98 per set. She posted 18 double-doubles.
Miller is a senior finance major with a 4.0 GPA. She was a two-time MVC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, breaking the MVC record in single-game digs with 50 against Chattanooga.
Vogel is a sophomore biology major with a 4.0 GPA. She is second for the Racers in kills (325) and points (353.5), averaging 3.07 kills and 3.33 points per set.
Fifty student-athletes were nominated for the MVC's scholar-athlete team. The criterion for the honor parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale). Also, students must have participated in at least 75-percent of the regular-season matches. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore status in both athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen and redshirt freshmen were not eligible).
