Women's tennis falls to Samford and South Alabama

Murray State fell to Samford and South Alabama in back-to-back matches, Friday and Saturday.

Starting with doubles play, Samford won in the first flight after Samantha Nanere/Lindsay Song defeated MSU doubles pair Emma Honore/Annika Pschorr (7-5). Samford clinched the doubles point in the third flight by default. Racers double pair Sarah Bureau/Natalie Slezakova won their match 7-6.

The Racers earned all their points in singles play. Emma Honore won in straight set wins (7-5), (6-4) and Annika Pschorr as well (7-6), (7-5). In the fourth flight, Natalie Slezakova defeated her opponent (2-6), (7-5), (6-1).

The Bulldogs won the match after earning three singles wins. In the first flight, Alexis Lopez defeated Sarah Bureau (6-3), (7-6). Olivia Jablonski of Samford defeated Paola Campigotto (0-6), (6-3), (6-3). Their last point in singles play came from a default win in the sixth flight.

MSU then faced off against the Jaguars, Saturday.

The Racers won the doubles point in their match against South Alabama. Sarah Bureau/Natalie Slezakova doubles pair defeated their opponent in the first flight (7-6). Annika Pschorr/Emma Honore won in the second flight (6-4).

South Alabama clinched the match in singles play. The Jaguars won their first match by default, followed by a win from Chems Doha Zeghlouli in three sets (6-1), (1-6), (6-2). Their next point came from another three-set win in the second flight from Luminita Tutunaru (5-7), (6-1), (6-1). Tereza Dejnozkova won her match against Racer opponent Natalie Slezakova (6-2) (6-4). The Jaguars clinched the win in the third flight from Elysia Pool who won (6-3), (5-7), (7-5). Sarah Bureau gave MSU their second point after defeating Nikola Novotna in the first flight (6-3), (1-6), (6-1).
