Murray State baseball fell to the Golden Flash despite having four of five hits in the extra-base range

Garner got the scoring started in the first inning with a monstrous two-run home run over the batter's eye at Johnny Reagan Field that scored Taylor Howell. After Kent State took the lead in the fourth inning, the Racers battled back in the form of two doubles in the seventh inning from Brennan McCullough and Logan Bland to cut the deficit to 4-3.

In the bottom of the eight inning, Mercer would deposit the second pitch of the inning over the right center field wall to tie the game before the Golden Flash retook the lead for good in the top of the ninth.

Garner and Mercer are tied for the team lead in home runs with two apiece while each also has six total extra-base hits on the year.

On the mound, Allen Roulette impressed in his first outing of the season going 3.2 innings pitched with seven strikeouts and giving up just one earned run.

The Racers and Golden Flash are set for a second matchup for a rescheduled time of 12 p.m. on Wednesday.
