Murray State baseball fell 9-5 in the program’s first ever Missouri Valley Conference game

Four different Racers earned multi-hit performances and combined for six extra-base hits in the matchup. Dustin Mercer led MSU with three hits with Brennan McCullough, Drew Vogel, and Seth Gardner following closely behind with two hits apiece.

Gardner and Logan Bland combined for back-to-back solo home runs in the fifth inning as McCullough and Carson Garner each flashed their wheels with a triple each.

The Racers and Braves will play games two and three of the series tomorrow in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. at Johnny Reagan Field. Â
