The Murray State softball team wrapped up play at the 2023 Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament Sunday with a 5-3, extra inning loss to host Mississippi State at Nusz Park in Starkville, Mississippi. The Racers went 4-1 over the weekend in Starkville including a win over the Bulldogs Saturday

- The Racers scored two runs in the fourth on a pair of singles from Lily Fischer and Ailey Schick, followed by a RBI-double from Gracie Osbron in the seventh to tie the game at three.
 - The Bulldogs scored all three of their runs in regulation in the fifth, before walking the game off in the eighth on a two-run home run from Chloe Malau'ulu.
 - Hannah James struck out two, walked one and allowed two earned runs on five hits over seven innings Saturday in a no-decision. However, it was Bre Haislip that took the loss by allowing the game-winning home run in the eighth inning with one out.
 - Erin Lackey was impressive at the plate in the game for Murray State, going 3-for-4 on the day with a double from the leadoff spot.
