Mercer's Massive Day Fuels Racers Victory

Dustin Mercer went 5-for-6 with two home runs to fuel Murray State to a 14-8 win over Illinoiis State
The Racers collected 17 hits on the day with Riley Hawthorne and Ethan Krizen each having a three-hit performance. Cade Sammons and Drew Vogel added to the multihit performances with two hits each while Brennan McCullough and Parker Estes each homered to highlight the huge day at the plate for MSU.
Matt Boynton shined in relief for Murray State tossing 4.0 innings pitched while allowing just one earned runs and three hits as he struck out two. Bryce Valero earned the start on the mound for the Racers as he went for 4.1 innings pitched while allowing three earned runs and striking out three.Â
The Racers will go for the sweep over the Redbirds in the series finale on Sunday. First pitch of the matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m.
