Racers Drop Monday Morning Matchup

After winning the first two games of the series with Valpo, Murray State fell 5-2 on Monday
Murray State baseball fell to Valparaiso 5-2 on Monday at Bauer Field in Valparaiso, Indiana. The Racers secured the series yesterday, sweeping the doubleheader for the first MVC series win in program history.
Taylor Howell hit his third home run of the weekend on a second-inning solo blast. Brennan McCullough contined his impressive week with another RBI on a sixth-inning single for his sixth hit of the series.Â
Cade Sammons picked up two more hits out of the lead off slot and scored a run while Dustin Mercer collected yet another hit in the bout.Â
On the mound, Cade Vernon put together a strong day going 5.0 innings pitched while allowing just one earned run and striking out seven Beacons.
The Racers will be back in action tomorrow at Johnny Reagan Field when they play host to former conference foe Southeast Missouri. The Redhawks come to Murray with a 16-14 record and winners of five straight. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.Â
