Racers Unable to Overcome Early Sycamore Runs

Murray State fell 5-0 to Indiana State on Saturday to level the series
Murray State baseball fell 5-0 to Indiana State on Saturday to level the series at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute, Indiana. The defeat comes a night after a dominant 12-5 Murray State win on Friday night to open the weekend.Â
The Racers were able to pick up two hits on the day with a base knock from Seth Gardner and Dustin Mercer but were unable to do further damage despite striking out just three times.
On the mound, Cade Vernon scattered four earned runs across 5.2 innings pitched with seven strikeouts. Relief arms Thomas McNabb and Alex Elsing each held the Sycamores without an earned run as McNabb tossed one inning and Elsing pitched 1.1 innings.Â
MSU and ISU will square off in the rubber match tomorrow for a 12 p.m. CT first pitch.
