Racers Place Runner-Up in Inaugural MVC Outdoor Championships

Murray State track and field take second in their inaugural MVC Outdoor Championships.
Murray State track and field take second overall in their inaugural Missouri Valley Conference Championships, Sunday.

Kayla Bell won the 400m dash with a time of 53.62 seconds to make it four gold medals for the Racers. MSU won the first three gold medals on day two from Jenna Pauly (heptathlon), Meghan Fletcher (high jump) and Brooke Misukonis (pole vault).

The Racers placed runner-up in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. The quartet of Faith Bostick, Hannah Malone, Lucia Herrero Yanez and Rachel Hagans finished second behind Southern Illinois with a time of 45.36 seconds.

Tylantiss Atlas, Herrero Yanez, Bell, and Amirr Evans formed the 4x400m relay team, winning the silver medal with a time of (3:44.06).

Other medals came from Amyah Davis, who placed third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.99 seconds, Bostick in the 100m dash (11.65) and Evans in the 800m run (2:.08.33).

MSU closed the weekend with four gold, silver and bronze medals. Finishing just behind five-time defending Illinois State.

With this result, Murray State takes runner-up titles in both The Valley indoor and outdoor titles in their first year in the conference.

The Racers will prepare for the NCAA East Preliminaries at the University of Florida, May 25-27.
