Murray State volleyball sweeps both matches against Southern Indiana and New Orleans on day one of Bellarmine Classic.

Murray State volleyball sweeps both matches on the opening day of the Bellarmine Classic, Friday.

The Racers did not hold anything back, winning the first match against Southern Indiana in three straight sets. They won the first set 25-21, the second set 25-19, and capped the match with a 25-21 set.

MSU then came back and won another sweep over New Orleans to cap the first day. The Racers dominated the match, winning the first set 25-19, the second set 25-12, and the third set 25-18.

The win over USI marked head coach Dave Schwepker's 400th career win. Schwepker has been at the Racers' helm for 26 years with a 388-332 record.

Darci Metzger led the Racers' offense by racking up 24 kills. She currently leads the Missouri Valley Conference in total kills (83).
Bailey DeMier posted a total of 77 assists to average 12.83 per set. She is currently second in the MVC with a 10.85 set.
The Racers' middle blockers posted over .500 hitting percentage in a win over New Orleans. Haidi Miliou has a .588 hitting percentage, and Elisa Dozio has a .529 hitting percentage.
