Racers Travel to Bellarmine for Second Tournament of the Season

Murray State volleyball travels to Bellarmine for their second non-conference tournament of the season. They will open the weekend on a Friday doubleheader against Southern Indiana and New Orleans, before closing it against the hosts, Bellarmine, Saturday.
The Opponents
Southern Indiana
The Screaming Eagles has a 1-3 record to start the season. They went 1-2 on opening weekend, falling 1-3 to New Hampshire, winning 3-0 over Radford and dropping three straight sets to Indiana. USI fell on a cross-town match against Missouri Valley Conference member Evansville. Murray State won two of their meetings against Southern Indiana, last season.

Senior, Leah Anderson, is the Eagles main offensive power, posting 53 kills on opening weekend. Anderson was named Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference in the Eagles inaugural division I season, last year.

The Privateers has a 1-2 record after the opening weekend. They fell to Chattanooga and Georgia State before taking their first win of the season against South Carolina.

Senior, Karen Cordero is accompanied by freshmen, Ryan Williams and Ava Kennon in spearheading the Privateers' offense. Cordero leads in kills with 32 while Williams have 25 followed by Kennon with 20. Â

Bellarmine
The Knights are on a three-game losing streak. They opened the season against Tennessee Tech, App State and William & Mary.

Newcomer Natalie Bland leads the Knights in kills with 30. Bellarmine features two main team conductors with Macie Garrison leading in assists with 42 followed by the libero Mara Perry with 37.
